MAKING A DIFFERENCE... Arms Around Bainbridge raises money annually to help friends and neighbors facing financial obstacles accompanying medical treatment; this year's recipients are Karen Langman and Melanie Sattler. There will be three events: a Street Dance, an Open Water Relay Swim, and a Pool Relay Swim. The Street Dance will begin Aug. 13 at 5:30 pm on Madrone Lane (between Blackbird Bakery and BPA). This family friendly event will offer games and music for kids followed by The Randy Oxford Band with food and drinks available from local restaurants. Admission will be $20 per adult with children under 18 admitted free. The Open Water Relay will be held Aug. 14 from 5:00 am-7:00 pm. Registration for this swim, which will completely circumnavigate Bainbridge Island and be for experienced open water swimmers, will be $100. The Pool Relay will be held Aug. 15 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. This relay will symbolize a virtual 30-mile swim from Blakely Harbor through Rich Passage to Point White Dock to Manzanita Bay through Agate Pass to Fay Bainbridge and back to Blakely Harbor. Six pool lanes will each represent a segment of the relay with up to five swimmers per lane. Registration will be $25.00 per 30-minutes of pool time per swimmer and swimmers may register for up to six 30-minute slots (three hours). While not required, swimmers are encouraged to seek sponsors for their swim. For more information, or to sponsor a swimmer, please visit www.ArmsAroundBainbridge.com
