Yesterday evening, Edward and I, along with our two whippets headed over to
Pritchard Park off Eagle Harbor Drive to the beach. Edward had been telling me what a wonderful place it is. To my surprise I was greeted by a
sandy beach. A beautiful clean beach, great for walking. We sat on a log while the dogs enjoyed exploring and realized what an incredibly beautiful place we have here on the island. To my right the city skyline was a back drop of the shipping lanes where a big freighter was slowly heading into Seattle. To my left the majestic Olympic Mountains climbed behind the colorful sails and boats in the nearby marina. As we were taking this in, a baby grey whale surfaced and blew. Apparently they come in to the sandy beaches to rub barnacles off. It was quite an afternoon. All only 3 miles from home.
